Before Agentic Coding
Before working with AI coding agents
Heavenly Father,
whose words created all things from nothing,
and who has redeemed us through the Word of Christ:
Thank you for giving us technology with which we can create using our words.
Use it to point our minds and hearts to Christ,
who created and sustains all things through the word of your power.
Remind us how contingent our words are:
before a word is on our lips, you know it completely.
And we can form no new thing under the Sun,
only what you have already known.
I am about to use a technology that promises to deliver
on any desire that I can express in words.
Shape my desires rightly
so that they would lead to life and righteousness.
May your Kingdom come, and your will be done.
Lead me not into temptation as I work with this technology.
These tools make it easy for me to accept without understanding,
tempting me to shirk my responsibility for the behavior of what I make.
The promise of unlimited productivity tempts me to avoid rest;
help me to know when to stop.
The intermittent rewards of checking in on the progress of agentic tasks
risks gambling-like addiction;
deliver me from this evil.
Draw my awareness towards your presence with me—
before, during, and after my work.
