For when one of my professors retire
Through this journey of life Lord,
I have seen you near and far,
For everything in this world is Yours.
I know you have plans for all of us,
And this plan you are enacting will bring joy to many,
I thank you for the Joy that they have brought in their time here.
Give them strength as you send them from this place,
Give them strength in their new callings,
Give them the strength to rest after many years of work for your Glory,
For you are great, and you have given us the command to live by:
Love your neighbor as ourselves,
We so have loved having them in our place of study.
And they so lived in love throughout their time here,
I thank you Father,
for the oppertunity to get to love and meet them,
To be mentored by them,
To laugh with them,
To have a chance to talk seriously with them about what matters to us,
We thank you for the oppertunities you have given them,
That they may show how amazing our your deeds, Lord,
And how we may delight in studying them.
We may have peace in knowing that,
Not a hair can fall from our heads,
Not a professor can retire,
Not a day can be had,
Without your will in heaven, Lord.
We pray in your great and holy name, Lord.
